Five for Fraturday~ freebie included

I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday.
On Thursday night we had our annual Kindergarten Thanksgiving Play.  It is always so cute.  Our kids are either a turkey, corn, pilgrim boy/girl or Indian boy/girl.  I didn't take pictures of all of them, but here are a few.

Next week we will practice the word "am" using the following I Am Thankful Thanksgiving reader.
Yesterday, we read Fancy Nancy Our Thanksgiving Banquet.
Our class loved this story.  In the story, Nancy draws a turkey using her hand.  After reading the story, our class made turkeys by tracing our hand.
I went ahead and made a December Calendar to put in my students take home folders.  I use this as a behavior management tool.  Students either get a sticker for the day or sometimes a note home.  You can grab it free in my store by clicking on the picture below.
I just added these to my Thanksgiving Print and Go Unit.
Thank you so much for stopping by!  Have a good weekend!

Save a Turkey! Eat more...

This week we read the story Turkey Trouble.  It is such a cute story.

Turkey is in trouble.  Farmer Jake is looking for him.  Turkey tries to disguise himself as different animals.  Turkey's disguises are ineffective.  In the end of the story, Turkey is successful by disguising himself as a pizza delivery man.

After reading the story, my class completed a follow up craft and writing.

The students wrote to the prompt, "Save a turkey.  Eat more..."

Here is what they came up with.

I like to eat popcorn and tacos and strawberries.

I like to eat mac and cheese.

I love cake.

I love chicken.

I like pizza.

This is all of our turkeys together.

Click on the picture below to see this item in my store.

This craft can be used in 2 different ways.  You can use the writing prompt, "Save a turkey.  Eat more..." or this craft comes with a blank writing template.  Last year we used the turkeys and wrote about what we were thankful for.  The turkey can also be printed to have colorful polka dot feathers or colorful construction paper feathers.

Do You See Thanksgiving? emergent reader

We used this reader this week to practicing reading and writing the sight word "do".
