Here are a few freebies to help you out if you would like them.  My kinders are working on learning letters.  We made "G is for grapes" and "I is for ice cream".  You can grab these from my store by clicking onto the pictures.

You can also download this free September Calendar if you would like.  I use these in my students take home folders.

Hope you have a nice weekend!  It is a 3 day weekend for me! :)

Peek at My Week~ wk. 1

This is my first time ever, linking up with Deedee to share a Peek at My Week.

I am so nervous about going back to school!!  We start tomorrow.  I met 18 out of 19 of my babies on Thursday at Back to School Night.  I am so glad that I got to meet them and put a face with a name.  This is my 7th year beginning a new school year, and I still get nervous!

Here are my plans for the week:

Make sure to stop by Mrs. Wills Kindergarten to see who else has linked up!

Back to School Bulletin Board

I am linking up with Miss DeCarbo for Wordless Wednesday.

I decorated the bulletin board outside my classroom today because we have Back to School Night tomorrow.  Meeting the students and parents for the first time is so nerve wrecking for me!! :)

As you can see, my bulletin board is decorated with bees.  My question for you is do you have a classroom theme?  And if so, what is it?

Mailbox Labels

Just hopping on really quick to show you the labels that I made for my kids mailboxes.  My kids use mailboxes to put away their work until it is time for them to pack up.  I am not at school right now, so I cannot show you a picture of what our mailboxes look like.  The mailbox system that I use is actually a shoe storage that I bought from Kmart last year.  It has worked great.  I love having the kids place their work inside their mailbox until it is the end of the day and they transfer their work to their folders.  This saves them from having to drag out their book bag multiple times and pack their things.  Here is a look at the labels that I made for their mailboxes.  I laminate them for durability and then you can use either masking tape or hot glue to secure inside the mailbox.  Click on the picture to see the labels in my store.

100 Book Challenge Reading Log

My school uses the 100 Book Challenge Reading Program.  I created this reading log for my students and parents to be able to keep up with how many steps the kids are earning.

Each step is equal to 15 minutes of reading.  To see the Reading Log in my store just click on the picture.

Bee Labels and FREE August Printable Calendar

So sad... tomorrow is my last day as a free woman!  ;)  I have to go back to work on Monday, and then the kids will return the following Monday.  In the past, my Kinder babies have always used 1 inch notebooks as their take home folders.  This year, our school did not order agendas for Kindergarten, which is the main reason they needed the 1 inch binders.  So instead, I bought the super cheap 3 prong folders to send home with the kids.  I know these won't make it through the entire year, but since they are cheap I am hoping they will make it to at least Christmas, and then I can just replace them.

Anyways, here are the labels that I created to put on the front of the 3 prong folders.

And here is a FREE printable August Calendar that I created to send home with the kids.  You can grab it by clicking on the picture.

Thanks for stopping by!

Wordless Wednesday~ Word Wall

I am linking up with Christina from 2nd Grade Sugar and Spice for Wordless Wednesday.

Today I went to my school and worked on my new Word Wall.  At my school, we teach 80 words to our Kinder students.  Last year, I posted all 80 words on the wall underneath the alphabet at the beginning of the school year.  I also had the children's names posted as well.  It was too overwhelming.  We never even referred to the word wall.  This year, I have used 12X12 cardstock to create a Word Wall that is separate from our main alphabet, if that makes sense.  I plan to add our new words as we learn them.  I hope we get much more use of the Word Wall this way.

If you would like to see my Word Wall packet in my store that comes with the "Word Wall" banner, alphabet labels, 80 pre-made sight word cards, and additional sight word cards, just click on the picture below.

My question for you is do you use a word wall?  And if so, what have you found that works for you?

Bee Name Plate Labels

I finally got my class roster today.  So far I only have 16 students.  We go back to school on August 18th, and I anticipate getting more students before then.  I have never had below 20 students, and this will be my 7th year teaching, so I will not know what to do with myself if I don't get a few more.  :)

Here is my latest project that I have been working on:

These are labels that I made for my student's cubbies where they keep their belongings, such as their backpacks and jackets.  All you have to do is print them.  I laminate them for durability and then hot glue or you can use masking tape to secure them into the cubby.  You can also use these for student mailboxes or desk plates.  Click here to see them in my store.

August Calendar

This year I am trying something different for our Calendar time.  In the past I have used different methods to teach Calendar skills.  I have taught Calendar by using the Smart Board.  I have also used interactive Calendar Notebooks.  Last year we had a strict copy limit so I was unable to use a printable calendar with my students.  This year I anticipate us having a copy limit again so I decided to change the way I teach my Calendar time.

My mom had an old board that she did not need.  So I took it and decorated an August Calendar.

I bought the actual calendar at a school supply store for only a couple dollars.  The August banner and calendar cards are available in my TPT store for only $1.  I made this Calendar simple for my students since this is their first month as Kindergarteners.  The calendar cards practice an AB pattern of bus, school, bus, school.  We will work on the code date, discuss the weather for the day, and keep a count of how many days we have been in school.  I like that the code date will be posted for the entire day because during writing time, I always have my students label their work with the numerical date.  As the school year progresses, the calendar will introduce new learning concepts each month.  What kind of things do you practice during calendar time?

Shape Friends Posters~ updated

I cannot believe it is time to start a new school year!  I have been working on getting my classroom set up and decorated.  I have blogged about my Shape Friends Posters before, but I have added a little bit more to the packet.

I added the following 3D shapes: cylinder, cube, sphere and cone.  I also made a bunting banner that says "Shapes" and scalloped circles that say "2D" and "3D".

I went to school this morning and decorated a board with these shapes.  Here is how it turned out.

To grab them in my store, just click here.
