Wordless Wednesday~ Apple Tree Bulletin Board

I am linking up with Christina from Second Grade Sugar and Spice for Wordless Wednesday.

This is our second week doing apple activities.  So, today we made apple trees to decorate our bulletin board in the hallway.  We did this fun activity that incorporated math, reading and writing.  The students had to cut out the shapes to make the trees.  Next, they cut out red, yellow or green apples and then wrote "I see (however many) (green, red, yellow) apples.  This activity was a fun way to practice cutting, counting, and reviewing the sight word "see".  It also reviewed the color words that we have been learning.

If you would like to grab this activity and a whole lot more, check out my Apples Mini Unit in my store.

Have you studied apples yet?  And if so, what fun things are you doing in your classroom?

Make sure to check out Second Grade Sugar and Spice to see who else is linking up!

Wordless Wednesday: Apple Graphing

I am linking up with Christina from Sugar and Spice for Wordless Wednesday.

This week we have been learning about apples.  It is one of my favorite units to teach.  While the kids were at recess I chopped up yellow, red and green apples.  When they came back to the room we did a taste test to discover which flavor we liked the best.  Here are pictures of our cute little craft and graphs that we made.

Green was the winner for our classroom.  Have you tasted apples in your classroom, and if so, which color won the most votes?

You can find this fun activity and more in my Apples Mini Unit.

Orange is a Carrot~ books to practice color words

For the past few weeks our class has been working on learning color words.  We have sang many of the color songs off of Youtube, we have built the words with playdoh and we have also completed color word sheets.  This week we made books that correspond to the poem, Orange is a Carrot.  I really like these books because once they are completed the students can take them home and continue to practice the words independently.

Here are the playdoh mats that we used:

And these are the practice sheets we completed:

Here are the books we made:

The kids really enjoyed making these.  If you would like to see them in my store click on any of the pictures.

Llama Llama and the Bully Goat~ Craft and Writing

Last week our class read Llama Llama and the Bully Goat.  After reading the story we discussed how we can be good friends.  Then we made cute llamas and completed a writing activity in which we did our best to draw and write about how we can be a good friend.

Here is how some of them turned out:

I helped Madison grow grass.

Lucy and Amy are playing on the swings.
