Five for Friday

I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday.

This week our school had a pumpkin decorating contest.  The pumpkins had to be based off of characters from a story and they could not be carved.  Our pumpkin, was The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Our class was so excited that we came in 3rd place raising the most money for PreK-2nd.

Next week, our school will be participating in Red Ribbon Week.  Each class will be decorating their door.  We decorated ours today with the help of Pamela Zweygardt.

Our kids had so much fun decorating the minions!  I think they are adorable!

This week we have been hitting teen numbers hard.  We have been working on these teen number sorts.

We completed this coloring page to practice some of our sight words that look similar.

Lastly, I made these number puzzles.

I made three different puzzles: numbers 1-10, 11-20, and 21-30.  The students completed them based on their ability level.

These Halloween activities and more can be found in my Halloween Centers packet.

Scaredycrow Craft & Writing

This week we have been doing many different scarecrow activities.  I ordered three new books for this week: Scaredycrow, The Little Scarecrow Boy and The Scarecrow's Hat.

I love all three of these books.  Today I read Scaredycrow and then the kids completed a scarecrow craft and responded to the story by telling me what scares them.

Here is what our class had to say:

Jesslyn: "I am scared of people saying boo".

Mason: "I am scared of wolves".

Amy: "I am scared of Ryan saying boo".

Leah: "I am scared of my mom yelling".

Xavier: "I am scared of bats".

Have a good weekend!

What We've Been Up To~ Randomness and Freebies

This post is going to be pretty random.  Here is a look at some of the things we have been up to the last couple of weeks.

I cannot believe it is already October.  This year, I feel like I cannot keep up!!  Here are the Spider Calendar Cards that I made for us to use on our calendar during the month of October.  We are practicing an AAB pattern this month.

Here is the October Calendar Header that I printed, cut and then hung above our calendar.  It is a freebie in my store if you would like to grab it.

Here is a FREE October Calendar that I printed and placed in my students' take home folders.

Here are a few activities that we did during our Apples Unit:

My kids love these counting activities in which they build use unifix cubes to build towers.  In my Apples Unit there are two different sheets that can be printed.  One of the sheets practices numbers 10-14 and the other sheet practices numbers 5-9.

We sequenced the life cycle of an apple.

And we used this emergent reader to practice the sight word "see".  This reader is included in my Apple Unit or you can purchase it separately here.

This past week we learned about Nocturnal Animals.

I used this word bank activity in small groups with my students.  They practiced reading the sentences and then filling in the missing sight words.

We also reviewed our sight words during a Write the Room activity.

My Nocturnal Animals Pack also has a bat writing template which can be used to record a fact that was learned.  My class used the template to write about what drives them batty.

Last up, are these cutie patootie Seasonal Posters that I made today.

Thanks for reading!  I hope you are having a fabulous weekend!!
