Happy 100th Day! *Celebrating a Little Early*

So today is actually the 99th Day of School, but we started celebrating a little early just to make sure we can squeeze in all the fun activities.
We wrote about what we would do if we had 100 dollars.  Here are some of my favorites:
Trey would buy a pig.
Lizeth would buy me a dog.  (Although Scooter wouldn't like that very much!)
Brandon would buy groceries.  Don't you love his picture?
Emma would buy a car.  She even made a road for it!
And Ryan would buy lots of things: Mickey Mouse, a job, a fruit roll up, and more money!

The kids also wrote about what they wish they could have 100 of.
Ryan wanted 100 motorcycles.

Brandon also wanted 100 motorcycles.

Lizeth wanted 100 barbies.

Cole wanted 100 dollars.

This was just a few of our writings.  They turned out really cute.

We also set out 10 different snacks and the kids practiced counting out 10 of each to make a total of 100.
Here's a look:

And this is a look at us starting to write 100 words.

Fun Week Ahead!

This week we will be celebrating our 100th Day of Kindergarten!  Here is a look at a few of the things we will be doing.

We are going to practice writing some of our Sight Words.  By the time we are finished, we will have 100 words!
We are going to practice counting and writing to 100.

We are going to use Q-tips and paint 10 dots in each section.

One of our Groundhog's Day activities will be cutting these guys out and then gluing them into the correct order.

Look back later for pictures of our fun week!

Baby, It's Cold Outside!

Today has been so cold!  My poor heat pump has ran non-stop!  We had a Winter Mix this morning that resulting in our school closing at 10AM.  What were my kids doing during the chaos??  Taking their Math Map Test!! :)

Here is a look at our bulletin board.

The kids cut, glued, and painted the penguin and then wrote an addition sentence.

Hope you have a great weekend!  Stay warm!

Learning is "Beary" Fun!

This week we will be learning about bears and our stations will have a bear theme.  Here is a look at a couple of our literacy stations:

Students will be looking for some of our new words.
Students will look at different pictures on different colored bears and write the first, middle and last sound that they hear and then color the bear on their recording sheet to match.

Here is a few things we will be doing in our math stations:
This is a look at our Greater Than/ Less Than Game.  Students will work with a partner, taking turns choosing a card.  (The cards are all face down).  Whichever child gets more, either more bears or a higher number gets to keep both cards.  They keep playing until all of the cards are gone.  Whoever has the most cards at the end of the game wins!

This is a look at a matching game in which students can work with a partner to match the equation to the picture of tens and ones.

At this station students will look at the number on the bear and then draw that many dots onto the domino and create an addition sentence.

For the Bear Number Race, students will work with a partner taking turns spinning the spinner and then recording the number they land on, onto their recording sheet.  Each student will have their own recording sheet.  If they land on the smiley face they lose their turn.  The partner to get their bear to the tree first, by filling in the missing numbers wins!

I hope everyone has a great week!  For those of you that don't know, I will be getting married this summer~ June 22!  Tomorrow will mark the 5 month countdown! :)

Grab a Freebie!

I have done so good this year about not getting sick, and then it hit me this week.  I have been out the last 2 days, but at least it's not the flu!!  My kids made me cards, and they are so cute!  This one was my favorite!
Miss Tinsley,
I hope you feel better.
Love, Ryan

Miss Tinsley,
There is something on the back.

Isn't it sweet?!

This week we continued to work on Arctic Animals.  We read about Arctic foxes and then completed this letter sort.

Welcome to Our Classroom Blog

I am very excited about starting our classroom blog.  I hope to keep you up to date on what is happening in our classroom.

We are currently learning about Arctic Animals.  Here is a look at some of the fun activities we have done in our classroom.

Students worked with a partner, taking turns rolling 2 dice.  They added the dots together and then covered the sum.  The player that covered the most numbers before time was called won.

"Now" is one of our new sight words.  The students had to find and circle all of the words "now" and then count and write how many they found for the walrus and polar bear and then decide which animal had the most.

We wrote our subtraction sentence after looking at the pictures.

We practiced saying the names of the following arctic animals and then colored ice cubes to match the number of syllables we heard.

We practiced one of our sight words.

We used the sight word race during our literacy stations.  Students worked with partners, taking turns using a spinner.  Whichever word they landed on, they colored on their recording sheet.  The first one to get their Eskimo to the igloo was the winnner!

This is a counting book that the kids used to practice feeding the penguins fish.

And lastly, this is a look at our emergent reader we used to practice one of our sight words.

I am looking forward to another great week!  I am so relieved that testing for Report Cards is finally finished!!  Now to enter all the grades...
