Five for Friday~ Giveaway!

I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching to share 5 highlights from my week.

Before Christmas break, we worked really hard on addition.  This week, when the kids came back, we began subtraction.  Since the kids have been tested like crazy this week... MAP~ Reading & testing for report cards... I decided to let them work on a fun activity today to practice subtraction.  It turned out pretty cute too!

Here is an example of one of the boys:

If you can't see the writing it says, "My snowman had 3 buttons and 2 fell off.  How many are left?  3-2=1"

And here is one of the girls.

I gave them three buttons and they had to come up with a subtraction sentence of how many buttons fell off the snowman.  This activity also provided cutting practice and writing practice as we reviewed some of our sight words.

Here are all of our snowmen... and women!

I used this Positional Practice as an assessment for report cards.  It had a lot of different steps but we completed it as a whole group.  I gave all of the kids a clip board and read the directions one step at a time.  I repeated the directions several times and then gave them an opportunity at the end to go back and correct their answers if they wished.

This was another assessment that I used to see if students could identify which object is heavier.

I used this to assess whether students could match the picture to the story.

Even if you do not want to use these as assessment pages they are great for review.  The Snowman Subtraction Craft, these sheets and more can be found in my Arctic Freeze Packet.

Lastly, I just realized that last January is when I began my store on Teachers Pay Teachers and also created this blog.  To celebrate a one year anniversary I would love to give away any 2 products from my store.  I have lots to choose from!  How do you win?  There are several ways:
