Miss Tinsley's Bees is now on Instagram!

I found this fun linky from Michelle and Rachelle.

Each Tuesday, teachers from around the world will be posting a picture from their day with #teachertalktuesday.
Here is the picture I am sharing this week.

This is an "I Can Be Tweet" Craftivity.  I used it around Earth day and the kids wrote about how they can be "tweet" to the Earth.  However, this comes with 2 other writing prompts.  There is an "I Can Be Tweet" writing prompt which could be used around Valentine's Day, and there is a blank lined writing template.  Check it out here.

Five for Friday

I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching to share my 5 highlights from this week.

1. Our class celebrated Earth day this week by cleaning up the playground, planting flowers, hanging up bird feeders, and participating in many fun activities.  You can read about them below.  Here is a look at one of our Earth day craftivities:
The kids wrote about how they can be "tweet" to the earth.  Jordan wrote that he would pick up trash.  I will add this craftivitiy to my store within the next couple of days.

2. Wedding Plans:
The countdown is on...57 more days until I become Mrs. Black!  My mom has not been able to find a dress yet, so I am going shopping with her tomorrow.  Hopefully we will find something!  We are also going to work on buying gifts for the wedding party.  Should be fun!

3. Fun Writing Paper
I created writing paper with lines and a drawing box.  This paper comes in 12 different styles.  When it is writing time, I pass out different styles of the paper.  The kids think it is fun to see paper they will get.  You can see the paper here.

4. Relay for Life
Our school has been raising money that will go to help find a cure for cancer.  As part of the fundraiser, students could bring $1 to buy a balloon to be released in honor/memory of a loved one.  The whole school came together and here is a picture of the balloon release.  The kids really enjoyed it!

5. May Homework
Just 27 more days in this school year!  This will be our last homework calendar of the year.  You can find it here.

Have a great weekend!!

Writing Paper & More Earth Day

Here is a look at the new writing paper I created.
It comes with lines and picture boxes in 12 different styles.

This is a look at a few of the styles:

And these 2 pictures are from our Earth Day fun.  The first picture is of seed art that the kids made in Mrs. Durham's class, and the second picture is of an Earth that the kids marble painted in Mrs. Miles' class.

Earth Day~ day 2

Today the kids enjoyed more Earth day fun!
We rotated classrooms,
and the kids were able to do an Earth
day activity in 5 different Kindergarten classrooms.
Here is a look at what the kids did in Mrs. Barnes' class.
She talked to them about recycling
and they put together trees from recycled material.

The kids visited Mrs. Monteith's class and she
allowed them to explore dirt.
They examined their dirt under a microscope,
which they thought was so awesome.
She also made them a "dirt" snack, which they loved!
Here is a picture of Emma:

This is a picture of the kids picking up trash from the playground.

Today we planted more flowers and also cleaned up all the rocks from our playground.
I made the kids a dirt pudding snack that had crushed up oreo cookies and gummy worms.
After they ate, I had them write about what their favorite thing was that they did yesterday or today.
Here are some of their responses (which normally they do much better writing but they felt the need to rush so that they could get back outside).

Chase wrote, "I like watering the plants".

Lizeth wrote, "I like the flowers".

Dylan wrote, "I love planting because planting is fun".
Trey LOVED the dirt pudding.
He said, "Miss Tinsley had the power to
make the pudding". So funny! :)

Ryan wrote, "I have good luck and Lizeth and Brandon kissed."
He even divided his picture into 2 separate parts.
He thought he had good luck because Mrs. Monteith
gave them a dirt snack and then they had a dirt snack in my room also.
And he just made the part about the kiss up.  :)

Jordan said, "Yesterday we got to plant some flowers".

Celebrating Earth day has been so much fun!

Happy Earth Day!

We had so much fun today.
In honor of Earth day, all 5 of the Kindergarten
classes participated in a Playground Beautification Project.
Here is a look at the hard work from today.

The kids planted flowers.

They look so pretty!

Here is Jonathan planting a flower.

They planted tomato plants.

Some of the kids brought in bird seed and bird feeders.
This is a picture of the one Brandon brought.

And here is a look at all of Kindergarten.
We have more work to do tomorrow!

Duck Dynasty & Frog Craftivity

During writing time, my kids are allowed to choose what they write about.
Trey LOVES Duck Dynasty and has been choosing to write about it.
It makes me happy, happy, happy! :)

"Si and Phil are fishing at the lake
and they caught 100 fish but Si caught 1000".
And here is another, "Si and Willie went
to Chucky Cheese and Si found
a gorilla stuffed animal that he wanted to buy".
We have been working on oviparous animals for the past couple of weeks.
Here is a look at the frog craftivity I created.

You can see more here.

The kids cut out the frog pieces and then glue them together.

Next, they estimate how far they can jump
(in the length of unifix cubes).
Then, they jump
and use unifix cubes to
measure how far they actually jumped.
Some of the kids made such good estimates!!
Brandon's estimate was only off by 6!

Cole came the closest.  He thought he could jump
the length of 60 unifix cubes, and he jumped the length of 62!

Here is the finished product!

Ladybug Cuteness

Just hopping on to show the cute ladybug craft the kids will be making tomorrow.

The kids are going to find the missing number that will make 10 when added,
and then they will cut out the pieces to make the ladybug.

You can check the activity out here.
